Carta para mis Amigos…….. Otro año mas!!! ….

Justo cuando este año esta terminando….No escribo para quejarme, porque soy conciente que hay millones en situaciones peores a la mía…solo escribo para recordarme, y recordarles sobre la humana responsabilidad que cada uno de nosotros tenemos ante la crisis por la que atravesamos millones….

En mi historia personal…..… Han sido casi diez años que no he pisado las tierras de mi país…Soy una mujer Indígena que fue empujada a llegar a un país distinto. He llegado a conocer una variedad de culturas, a escuchar una variante de idiomas y lenguas nativas del mundo. He llegado a ver una diversidad en cuanto a tradiciones….Pero ¿En donde estamos?

Fueron casi siete años de entrega a un trabajo en una fábrica corporativa dentro de este país. Lugar donde entregue parte de mi juventud. Lugar en donde mi integridad como mujer fue pisoteada. Primero por el Cacique de mi patrón, segundo por los agentes de Migración….¿Y todavía te cruzas de Brazos?

De mi arresto por agentes de migración en 2006 en mi centro de trabajo. Mi frustración se convirtió en rabia. Mi corazón se envolvió en una bandera de lucha por la dignidad de mi gente y la mía personal. Hoy mi conciencia ha cambiado…Pero no mi dolor y mi ansia de que esto termine….La pregunta es ¿Cuando?

Han sido diez años de no ver a mis hijos. Han sido 10 años de no poder tocarles o felicitarles cuando ellos lo necesitan. Mama no ha estado durante sus graduaciones, su enfermedades, sus triunfos..Mama no esta, cuando lloran por un dolor que solo ella puede calmar y entender…. Porque nos han quitado tanto?

Cada persona que lea estas líneas. Cada persona que es Madre, Padre o hij@ sabe de lo que hablo…siente, lo que yo siento. Se que muchos pasan lo que yo paso. También se que muchos desean lo que yo deseo….Pero quienes y cuantos Actuaran??

Después de resistir por un largo tiempo ante “Leyes” y Sistemas creados para unos cuantos. Mi compromiso me llevo a más que palabras y ligeras acciones. Mi posición política es como una mujer Indígena. Mi responsabilidad es hacer que se tome en cuenta nuestra voz y se de representación a los pueblos Desplazados. Mi dedicación es a favor de los millones de mujeres invisibles y hombres sin rostro tanto en esta País, como en cualquier otro….Sabes de lo que hablo?

Son muchas Navidades lejos de los míos, son varios caminos que me ha tocado andar…son muchas las personas que han cruzado por mi vida, son demasiadas esperanzas las que en mi corazón aun sobreviven. Pero no soy ciega ante un político. No podemos confiar en ellos, nuestra libertad no se negocia….

Mi esperanza esta puesta en ti, en tu familia, en tu conciencia, en tu corazón….En las nuevas generaciones…Verdad que no estoy equivocada??

Te pido que medites, reflexiones y sobre todo Actúes. ¿Que mas tenemos que pedir?
¿De quien tenemos que esperar? ¿Cuánto podemos esperar? ¿A quien tenemos que esperar? ¿Quienes son los que nos representan? ¿Quién, le ha preguntado al pueblo que quiere para su futuro? ¿Quién ha invitado a la mesa de negocian al pueblo? ..Pero sobre todo ¿Que se esta Negociando?

Este año esta muriendo….las promesas de un hombre se quedaron en el aire…………….

Nuevamente te hablo como amiga, como mama y como afectada directa de las políticas injustas. Te pido que en tus metas para el siguiente año nos incluyas dentro de tus planes. Te pido que juntos vigilemos hacia donde nos dirigen.

Muchas gracias por todo su apoyo a Flor….pero ahora tenemos que apoyar a una pueblo que sufre y se desmorona a cada minuto. Hoy Flor es “libre” ella tiene un gran compromiso con lo que resta en el camino. Pero necesita que te pares enfrente; Al lado de ella.

Millones de hijos del otro lado de la frontera reclaman por el amor de sus padres. Millones de padres de este lado de la frontera luchan a diario porque el dolor no sea tan profundo..Millones como Flor, quieren volver a tocar a sus hijos en una forma digna…es justo, lo merecemos!!!…

Me despido de ustedes querid@s amig@s, esperando que en la noche de Navidad, cuando abrazas a tu padre, a tu madre, a tus hermanos, a tus hijos…. Pienses en lo que te acabo de escribir. También espero que en tu brindis de año nuevo pidas por los millones que te necesitan…Muchos Abrazos, felices fiestas y nos vemos pronto.

Carta a los Tres Reyes Magos:

Queridos santos reyes les escribo nuevamente tal como lo hice el año pasado. Solo que como saben en esta ocasión mi situación es diferente. El ultimo año de mi vida como inmigrante en EE.UU ha sido resistir y luchar desde el interior de la Iglesia Adalberto, mi Santuario.

Hoy al escribir esta carta en esta mañana tan bella en un país tan frio, tan lejos de mis hijos, viviéndose una situación económica insostenible en todo el país, viendo el rostro de cientos de familias que diariamente desfilan en esta iglesia en busca de ayuda y consuelo.

Ellos piden soportar lo que las leyes rotas de migración están haciendo diariamente al separarlos, física y moralmente. Viendo también la falta de compromiso de nuestros legisladores y viviendo diariamente la xenofobia de los grupos supremacitas. El terror que este gobierno provoca con las redadas en nuestras comunidades en nombre de “Seguridad nacional” y viendo la perdida de fe de nuestro pueblo.

Este año 2009, les pido a ustedes queridos santos reyes que revivan la fe de nuestro pueblo para continuar en esta lucha, que borren el miedo de nuestras comunidades, que la administración del nuevo gobierno dirigido por Obama nos lleve al camino correcto tal y como lo hizo usted Melchor.

Sí, usted Melchor!! Me refiero a usted especialmente, porque según la historia fue usted el que dirigió por el camino correcto hacia Belén a Gaspar y Baltasar. Ustedes que tuvieron la fortuna de ver al niño Jesús. El que fue extranjero en su propia tierra, el que fue perseguido y refugiado, el que ya convertido en hombre daría la vida por nosotros para que no existieran las Fronteras y porque todos viviéramos en la igualdad y la justicia de una humanidad perfecta.

Queridos santos Reyes yo sé que mis peticiones son muchas pero sé que no son imposibles para ustedes. Tengo fe de que usted Melchor, dirigirá en los pensamientos de Obama. Tengo fé que pronto caminaré en las calles de Chicago con la libertad que lo hace todo mundo. Tengo fé que el pueblo volverá a tener fé.

Queridos Santos Reyes: La petición más especial es que cuides de mi pueblo indocumentado que le des el valor a Obama de componer estas leyes rotas de migración y que tales leyes me permitan volver libremente a mi país a abrazar a mis hijos y poder educarlos. Que estas leyes me permitan también ver a mi madre y recobrar el tiempo que hemos estado lejos también que el mundo entero abra los ojos su corazón y la conciencia.

Me despido de ustedes queridos Santos Reyes agradeciendo que cada 6 de Enero recorren el mundo sembrando fé, amor y esperanza. Y les prometo que el pueblo indocumentado Orará por que la patrulla fronteriza les permita llegar hasta EE.UU sin contratiempos.

Esperanza, Cambio, ¿“Sí Se Puede”? / Hope, Change, “Yes we can”?

Meses antes de las elecciones, los medios de comunicación hicieron demasiada referencia sobre el futuro presidente de esta nación. Las convenciones de demócratas y republicanos llamaron tanto la atención que los mismos medios no se daban abasto para reflejar la competitividad de los candidatos presidenciales, McCain y Obama.

Sus campañas se plagaron de insultos, uno contra el otro. No midieron las consecuencias de sus palabras y se sacaron los trapos sucios al sol, exponiéndolos a la vista del pueblo norteamericano y del mundo. Y digo del mundo, ya que Estados Unidos siendo una de las potencias de este, está en los ojos y oídos internacionales ya que por primera vez uno de los candidatos a la presidencia de este país es afro-americano, algo que hace 10 años atrás era impensable debido al racismo y la xenofobia que se vive en esta nación.

Cuando los candidatos se referían a las necesidades del pueblo, la competencia los llevó a tratrar de superarse el uno al otro. Algunos de los problemas que aquejaban a la nación en ese momento era la falta de trabajos, la crisis económica en la que este mismo sistema nos sumerge, la guerra en Irak, la falta de energía y las hipotecas de vivienda que han llevado a miles de familias a la calle. Además, el tema preferido en el cual estos candidatos basaron sus campañas fue en la garantía del “cambio”.

Las promesas del “cambio” a través de las políticas que impondrán estando en la silla presidencial no se diferenciaban mucho. El reflejar los defectos partidistas del otro fue el mayor mensaje de sus campañas.  Esta situación llevó a que el pueblo norteamericano y los votantes en general estuvieran confundidos.  Como vemos, fueron demasiadas las promesas, muy poco los compromisos y nada de acción, tanto de los republicanos como los demócratas. El énfasis, no sólo por ganar la mayoría de votos sino de atraer al mayor número de delegados que definirán el rumbo de esta nación y de recaudar sumas millonarias para sus campañas, se volvió desmedido e inhumano.

Los problemas como la escasez, precios elevadísimos y falta de almacenamiento de energía se volvieron el punto en el cual los candidatos enfocaron su preocupación ante el pueblo norteamericano. La crisis energética de esta nación ha provocado poner sus ojos en países como México, en el resto de Latinoamérica y la región del Medio Oriente, los cuales cuentan con recursos y que por ende, pretenden explotar a través de su gobierno.

Actualmente, los productos como el maíz y el arroz son parte de proyectos para poder crear y proveer energía a este país y a su pueblo. Todo esto sucede sin importar las consecuencias como el hambre, la migración y la muerte que se reflejará por tales proyectos.

Los candidatos presidenciales supieron que la educación era el punto donde atraerían la popularidad y el respaldo de las comunidades jóvenes.  Las estrategias de sus campañas fueron románticas promesas de cambios educativos, mejores proyectos educacionales, préstamos económicos para estudiantes, aprobaciones de becas y mucho más. Esto llevó a confundir, enamorar y sumergir aún más a los millones de jóvenes votantes en la ficción del “sueño americano”.

Los servicios de salud, otro sistema de poder de los blancos, matan la esperanza de millones de personas. Estas personas están siendo confundidas por las palabras de “seguro medico para todos por igual”, cuando nosotros sabemos que ese seguro y cuidado médico existiría si el gobierno del presidente Bush no gastara millones de dólares al día en una Guerra absurda; que tiene como objetivo principal el petróleo.

La renegociación de NAFTA, fue una base importante de estas campañas. Barak Obama lo supo y lo sabe. Él ha visitado en numerosas ocasiones la ciudad de Detroit en el estado de Michigan. Esta ciudad refleja perfectamente lo que NAFTA le hizo a México, Latinoamérica y al pueblo trabajador de los Estados Unidos.  Michigan, con una concentración del 82% de la comunidad afro-americana, ha vivido en carne propia la poca responsabilidad y la falta de atención del gobierno de este país.

Ya supimos cual fue la postura de McCain sobre NAFTA: crear más tratados comerciales, no renegociar los que ya existen y buscar formas de solvencia económica para este país y sus intereses, basándose en lo que conllevaría una serie de consecuencias tanto para los países explotados como las familias desplazadas por tales tratados, las crisis sociales y políticas y el daño al medio ambiente. Haría todo esto con tal de no ver morir su economía.

Inmigración: Como lo hemos visto, este fue el tema que les dio mayor dolor de cabeza a estos candidatos y el tema de mayor importancia para los latinos, debido a la ola de terror que han provocado las redadas, deportaciones y separación de familias en este país. Además lo vemos en la xenofobia de los grupos anti-inmigrantes, que crece cada día más y que ni Obama ni McCain, han hecho, hasta hoy, declaraciones al respecto.

El senador McCain, utilizó como su base principal de este tema una propuesta llamada Kennedy-McCain que introdujo en mayo del 2005. Y que debido a su falta de compromiso y de no ejercer la presión que requería tal propuesta para convertirla en ley, no pasó absolutamente nada.

El senador Obama, durante la convención demócrata comparó la situación de los inmigrantes al acto de separar una madre de su hijo, siendo este el país de inmigrantes. Pero lo importante de todo esto no es qué dicen, sino en realidad cómo y en qué se comprometerán y si en realidad cumplirán esos bellos discursos de “cambio”.  ¿Quién nos garantiza la realidad de un país económicamente estable, un país con un trato justo, un país con igualdad y respeto para todos? ¿QUIEN NOS GARANTIZA ÉL SUEÑO AMERICANO? La única garantía que tenemos, es nuestra responsabilidad y el liderato que decidamos tomar. Haz valer tu voz. Lucha y educa a tus hijos; crezcamos y eduquemonos. Somos nosotros los que tenemos el poder de LA GARANTÍA DEL CAMBIO.

Hope, Change, “Yes we can”? / Esperanza, Cambio, ¿“Sí Se Puede”?

In the months prior to the US presidential elections, the media made many references to the future president of the nation. The Democratic and Republican conventions called a lot of attention to this matter. And at one point, it seemed that the media couldn’t cover the competitiveness of the presidential candidates, John McCain and Barrack Obama.

The beginning of their campaigns was plagued with insults. They still, to this day have not measured the consequences of their words. They played dirty to expose the public to what they thought would helped them. Everyone was watching, North American people and the world. And I say that the world was watching, because the United States is already one of the greatest powers of the world and its actions are watch by many international eyes. Now, for the first time one of the presidential candidates of this country is African American, something that was unthinkable 10 years ago due to the racism and xenophobia that this nation breathes.

When the candidates made reference to the needs of the people, the fierce competition brought them to try overtake each other. One of the problems besetting the nation during that moment was the lack of jobs, the economic crisis which this system pulls us into, the war in Iraq, the lack of energy, the housing mortgages that have forced thousands of families to the streets. The preferred theme of the candidates where the candidates base their campaigns in guaranteeing “CHANGE”.

The promises of “change” that would be imposed by gaining the presidency were not very different. To reflect the party defects of one another became the major message of their campaigns. This situation led a lot of North Americans to confusion and voters in general. What we saw were too many promises, very few commitments, and no action from either democrats nor republicans. The emphasis was not just to win the majority of votes but to attract the largest number of delegates that will define the course for this nation and raise millions for their campaigns. It became unreasonable and inhumane.

Problems such as shortages, elevated prices and the lack of energy storage became a point in which the candidates focused their attention before the North American people. The energy crisis of this nation has caused them to put their eyes on other countries such as Mexico, the rest of Latin America and the Middle East. These place have resources and they seek to exploit them through their government.

Currently, products such as corn and rice are part of projects to create and provide energy to this country and its people without caring for consequences like the hunger, immigration and the death that is reflected with such projects.

The presidential candidates knew that education would be the point where they would attract popular support and backing from the young communities. The strategies of their campaigns were romantic promises of educational changes, better educational projects, student loans, the approval of more scholarships and more. This led millions of youth voters to confusion, to love and to plunge even further in to the fiction that is the “American Dream”.

The health services, another white power is killing the dreams of millions of North American people. People who are waiting for secure health insurance, confused by the words “medical insurance for everyone, equally”. When we know that this insurance and health care could in fact exist if the Bush administration opted not to waste millions of dollars per day on this absurd war who’s primary objective is oil.

Renegotiating NAFTA was an important base of these campaigns. Brrack Obama knew it and knows it. He has visited in numerous occasions, the city of Detroit, in the state of Michigan. The city could be the perfect reflection of what NAFTA is has done to Mexico, Latin America and working class people of the United States. Michigan with a concentration of 82% of the African American community has lived in their own flesh, the lack responsibility and the lack of attention the government this country has for anyone.

We know what McCain’s position is on NAFTA: to create more trade agreements, not to renegotiate those in place and to find forms of economic solvency for this country and its interest, basing itself in what will be without consequences for the exploited countries. Consequences like families being displaced by such treaties, the social and political crises and damage to the environment. All this, to not see their dying economies fail.

Immigration: if we remember, this was the theme that gave major headaches to the candidates and the most important theme for Latinos due to the wave of terror that raids and deportations have caused, which leads to the separation of families in this country. In addition to all this, we can that the xenophobia of the anti-immigrant groups grows every day and neither Obama nor McCain have made statements on it.

Senator McCain had used as his principal base for this theme, a proposed call that Kennedy-McCain introduced in May 2005. And, due to their lack of commitment and not exerting enough pressure needed for such a proposal to become law, nothing happened.

Senator Obama, during the Democratic convention compared the current situation on immigration to the separation of a mother from her child, as this is the country of immigrants. This is not what’s in question, it is not what they say, but in reality what they commit to doing and actually accomplish. It’s how their beautiful discourse of “change” really guarantee. An economically stable country, a country with fair treatment, a country with equality and respect for all. Change? The only guarantee we have is our personal responsibility and the leadership we can take. Make your voice heard. Fight and educate our children, let us grow and educate ourselves politically so that we have the power to truly CHANGE.

Famila Latina Unida – Santuario 2008 “Para que América Vea”

Sesión sobre los Pueblos en Resistencia Frente al Neoliberalismo y la dominación Imperial 7 a 12 de Octubre de 2008 Universidad de San Carlos Ciudad de Guatemala.

Compañeras y compañeros, hermanas y hermanos Indígenas de las Americas. Pueblos reunidos en este foro social. Reciban un afectuoso saludo desde la iglesia Santuario Adalberto. Mi lugar de refugio en Chicago IL. desde Enero de este año.

Desde el interior de las entrañas del Mounstro del capitalismo, reciban las palabras de resistencia,  nuestra solidaridad y la  propuesta del pueblo trabajador oprimido y de nuestras familias. 

Mi nombre es Flor Crisóstomo. Soy indígena Zapoteca de Oaxaca México, y soy madre de tres hijos a los que no he visto desde mi llegada a EE.UU. hace 8 años. Soy segunda generación de mujeres en mi familia que se encuentra en exilio económico debido a la corrupción de nuestro gobierno. La primera fueron mis padres cuyo derecho a la autosuficiencia fue destruido con la perdida de la tierra y el derecho a la artesanía tradicional. Un situación que culminado en el desplazamiento forzoso de nuestros lugares de origen.

La unidad e integridad de la familia son el factor principal para la continuación de un pueblo, de nuestra cultura, de nuestras lenguas, de nuestras tradiciones y de nuestras raíces. Pero para el capitalismo nuestras familias han sido el blanco perfecto para la grandeza de su imperio sobre nuestra separación forzada con el propósito de crear trabajadores explotados. Convirtiéndonos así, en pleno siglo XXI en el sistema de esclavitud moderno ante los ojos internacionales sin que nadie haga o diga nada.

Los tratados comerciales como NAFTA, CAFTA entre otros ideados y construidos en Washington que han sido aprobados por nuestros gobiernos. No han tenido resultados. Lo que se supondría ayudaría el progreso y estabilidad económica de nuestros países, de nuestros pueblos y para nuestras familias.

Solo ha beneficiado a los creadores de estos proyectos a uno que otro funcionario publico de nuestros gobiernos  pero sobre todo a las multinacionales y gobiernos extranjeros que llegan y se asientan en nuestro territorio. Prometiendo trabajo, prestaciones, servicios y “desarrollo” para nuestras comunidades.

Estas corporaciones que privatizan e institucionalizan lo nuestro; lo de nuestros hijos, lo que nuestros antepasados amaron y cuidaron por cientos de años. El día de hoy nuestros gobiernos lo entregan por unos cuantos millones de dólares al mejor postor.

Tal como paso con NAFTA, pasará con PLAN MÉXICO. Así como fue PLAN COLOMBIA entre otros. El  presidente Felipe Calderón ha entregado a su pueblo y su soberanía por 1500 millones de dólares a EE.UU. a tráves de PLAN MÉXICO o INICIATIVA MERIDA. Este plan que tiene como finalidad extender las fronteras y bases militares Estadounidenses hacia el sur utilizando territorio Mexicano. La militarización tiene como finalidad la practica colonial de desposesión de tierras, territorios y recursos naturales así como el genocidio cultural y de nuestras familias.

Declararion and Proposal of La Famila Latina Unida

Sanctuary 2008 “So that Amarica can see”

Session on the peoples in resistance against neoliberalism and imperial domination. October 7 to 12 2008, University of San Carlos Guatemala.

Compañeras and compañeros, indigenous sisters and brothers of the Americas. People united here at the social forum, accept an affectionate greeting from the sanctuary of Adalberto Church, my place of refuge in Chicago, Illinois USA since January of this year.

From the belly of the beast of capitalism, I send words of resistance, of our solidarity and the proposal of the oppressed, working people and our families.

My name is Flor Crisostomo. I am an indigenous Zapotecan from Oaxaca, Mexico. I am a mother of three children whom I have not seen since my arrival in the United States, 8 years ago.  I am the second generation of women who found themselves in economic exile thanks to the corruption of our government.   The first generation was my parents, whose right to support themselves was destroyed with the loss of their land and their right to be traditional artisans, situations which, historically, led to our forced displacement from our lands of origin.

The unity and integrity of the family is the principal factor for the continuation of a people, of our culture, of our language, of our traditions and roots.   But since the arrival in the Americas of the Europeans with their invasive capitalist ideas, and the economic policies imposed over the years by the United States in Mexico, Latin America and the world, our families, have been the perfect target for their empires’ aggrandizement via our forced separation with the purpose of exploitation, thus transforming us into the modern system of slavery in plain sight of the whole world, while nobody does or says anything.

Trade agreements like NAFTA, CAFTA, and others created in Washington and approved by our governments, have not had the result they were supposed to: helping the progress and economic stability of our countries, our peoples and our families.

These corporations privatize and institutionalize what belongs to us and our children, and what our ancestors loved and cared for over the centuries. Today, our governments hawk what is ours to the highest bidder for a few million dollars.

What happened with NAFTA will happen with Plan Mexico, as has already happened with Plan Colombia and others.  President Felipe Calderon has handed over his people and their sovereignty to the United States for $1500 million dollars through “Plan Mexico” or the “Merida Initiative,” and we won’t have to wait for the same to happen in all of Latin America.  This plan has as its goal extending the borders of the USA toward the south using Mexican territory, basically working through militarization.  This plan is the old colonial practice of dispossessing people of land, territory and natural resources, as well as cultural genocide.

El corredor biológico de Meso América esta en riesgo de desaparecer a tráves de la creación de plan PUEBLA –PANAMA.  Para nadie es un secreto que EE.UU. y Europa necesitan expandir sus tratados comerciales. Agravando cada vez mas la situación de nuestros países y de nuestra gente, que como ultimo recurso nos vemos forzadazos a desplazarnos de nuestra tierra para buscar formas de vida digna en lugares como EE.UU. Europa o Canadá.

El acto de repatriación de 1930, operación espaldas mojadas en 1950, la ley de Dixon en 1970, se repite diariamente en esta nación,  desde el ataque terrorista de 2001. El gobierno federal de este país ha implementado una casería contra la comunidad latina de habla hispana, que nosotros hemos denominado limpieza étnica. Este gobierno que ha sido clave de nuestra desgracia económica, política y social. No ha tomado en cuenta que nuestra gente, tuvo que dejar lo poco que su sistema capitalista impuesto nos ha permitido tener a distancia. Aun así somos inmigrantes que hemos logrado formar nuestras familias aquí. Dentro de este sistema de intolerancia, de odio, xenofobia, segregación, exclusión social, llegando al grado de asesinarnos por solo perfil racial.

En el contexto del sistema de trabajo de los pueblos indígenas y urbanos que hemos logrado llegar hacia estos territorios económicamente “estables”. Buscando dar a nuestras familias un sustento de vida digna, existimos más de 12 millones de seres humanos viviendo, trabajando, contribuyendo en esta gran potencia y a nuestros propios países; enviando millones de dólares anualmente en remesas y siendo fuente importante de ingresos. Por lo tanto, existimos pero nadie nos escucha. ¡Nos necesitan pero nadie nos ve!

Por tales motivos de intolerancia y por la ineptitud de nuestros gobiernos decidí actuar. Desde el interior de esta potencia y separada de mi familia. Me he parado firme dando la cara ante este gobierno, en nombre de nuestro pueblo despojado y desplazado le  he dicho:

No acepto tus leyes migratorias rotas hasta que tomes la responsabilidad de tus acciones,  doy la cara y no tengo miedo y tomaré hasta el ultimo aliento de mi vida para luchar por el respeto a mi pueblo, a tus trabajadores, a nuestras familias, a tus propios ciudadanos norteamericanos, y a los principios en los que basas tu nación. Que se te han olvidado.

Después de todo esto las preguntas son:

¿Y la responsabilidad de estas potencias donde queda?

¿En que se comprometen, con nosotros y nuestras familias?

¿Cuál es el recibimiento y trato que nos dan dentro de estas naciones?

¿Dónde están nuestros gobiernos cuando los necesitamos?

¿Pero sobre todo, que es lo que nosotros como afectados, hemos hecho para detener esto?

Por lo tanto, recomendamos a este foro social y a todos los participantes de diferentes nacionalidades a tomar acción en que:

1. Tenemos que exigir internacionalmente la despenalización de la migración. El derecho de migrar para trabajar dignamente, no es criminal. La despenalización tiene que subir a un nivel de derecho humano e internacional entre cada nación y cada órgano rector.

1.  Recomendamos y requerimos de sus esfuerzos para luchar contra la tiranía del libre Comercio, que ha transculturizado a las nuevas generaciones, que ha corrompido y violado nuestro estilo de vida tradicional. Para orillarnos a ser parte de un mundo “global”.

1.  Recomendamos como táctica los boicots de consumo contra las corporaciones ofensivas y explotadoras.

1.  Recomendamos también  presionar a nuestros respectivos gobiernos, que debido a las desigualdades de las políticas del libre comercio. Exijan a las corporaciones que contribuyan con fondos para desarrollo de la agricultura local en forma responsable.

1. Recomendamos también la unificación de una red amplia de solidaridad, que surga en este momento y en este foro, que nos comprometamos para que investigemos y presionemos a las agencias correspondientes que vigilan el trato humano como. Amnistía Internacional, UNIFEM, UNICEF y presionemos a UNESCO a tomar cartas en el asunto y vigilen el patrimonio cultural en todas las Américas, que esta siendo destruido por nuestros gobiernos en conjunto con las corporaciones multinacionales.

1. Recomendamos, presionar a nuestros legisladores y gobiernos a demandar la inmediata  renegociación de los tratados comerciales con Europa y EE.UU.

Hermanas y hermanos me despido de ustedes agradeciendo su invitación a participar en este foro social. Exhortándolos  a Resistir ante nuestros gobiernos con la frente en alto, los exhorto a tener Fe en nuestros hijos, en educarlos y prepararlos políticamente. Ya que sabemos, ellos serán los futuros gobernantes de esta tierra.

Sabemos que el camino es largo, la vida muy corta, la lucha muy fuerte. Pero sabemos que la resistencia marcará la diferencia en este camino para el futuro de nuestros hijos.

Sanctuary 2008 “So that Amarica can see”

The Meso-American biological corridor is in danger of disappearing under the impact of the PLAN PUEBLA-PANAMA. It is no secret to anybody that the United States and Europe need to expand their commercial treaties, thus worsening the situation of our lands and people, who as a last resort are forced to leave their land to find dignified ways to live in other regions such as the USA, Europe or Canada.

The repatriation program in the 1930s, “Operation Wetback” in the 1950s and the Dixon law in 1970, are repeated every day in this nation.   Since the terrorist attack of 2001, the federal government of this country has implemented a hunt called “ethnic cleansing”.  These governments, which played a key part in our economic, political and social misfortune, have not taken into account that our people have had to leave behind what little the capitalist system has allowed them to possess.  They are human beings who have managed to build their families here within this system of intolerance, hate, xenophobia, segregation, social exclusion, even enduring the extreme injustice of being murdered just because of their “racial profile”.

In the context of the system of work of the indigenous and urban workers who have managed to get to these economically “stable” territories looking to give their families a level of dignified sustenance, we see that there are 12 million human beings living, working and paying taxes in this great power and in their own countries, sending millions of dollars in remittances annually. Therefore we exist although nobody listens to us; they need us but they do not see us!

Because of these motives of intolerance and because of the ineptitude of our governments, I decided to act within the interior of this country, separated from my family. I have taken a firm stance facing this government in the name of our robbed and displaced people. I have said: 

After all this, the questions remain:

But where lies the responsibility of these powers?

What are they committed to, regarding us, and our families?
How are we received and treated within these powerful nations?
Where are our own governments when we need them?
And above all, what have we done, those of us so negatively affected, to try to stop this?

Therefore we request that all the participants from different nations at this social forum take action in the following ways:

3) We recommend consumer boycotts against offensive and exploitative corporations as a tactic.

4) We also recommend pressuring our own governments, who have created the inequalities through the politics and policies of free trade. We will demand that corporations contribute funds to develop local agriculture in a responsible and sustainable manner.

5) We also recommend a wide net of solidarity that forms in this moment, in this forum. We promise to investigate and pressure the corresponding agencies that observe and conduct “human rights watch” like Amnesty International, UNIFEM, UNICEF, and pressure UNESCO to take a stance on the issue and protect our cultural heritage today in all of the Americas, that is currently being destroyed by our governments in conjunction with multinational corporations.

6) We recommend pressuring our legislators and governors to demand an immediate renegotiation of all free trade agreements with Europe and the United States.

Brothers and Sisters, I say goodbye to you humbled and thankful for your invitation to participate in the social forum. I exhort you to resist against our governments with a high head, to have faith in our children, to educate them and prepare them politically. Because we know, they will be the future governors of this land.

We know the journey is long, life is very short, and the struggle is very hard. But we also know that resistance will mark the difference in this fight for the future of our children.

Mario 8000 millas, pedaleando por la dignidad del inmigrante

El pasado Miércoles 2 de Septiembre a las 8 de la mañana recibimos la visita de un joven Delgado, cansado, y barbudo. Lo único que trae, es una bicicleta con unas cuantas banderas, tambien carga un pequeño bulto donde lo que trae es un poco de ropa y repuestos para su bicicleta. Lo que note en su cara cansada era una gran sonrisa de tranquilidad, paz y una humildad tremenda, que en estos tiempos casi nadie porta.

Su nombre es Mario Castellón, ha recorrido mas de 8000 millas en bicicleta desde el 31 de mayo del 2008. Su punto de partida fue su país de origen, El Salvador. El propósito es contribuir a la lucha pro-inmigrante, trayendo el mensaje al mundo y a los pueblos por los cuales el va pasando. Mario quiere traer atención a la importancia y el significado de los mas de 12 millones de inmigrantes indocumentados de la tan ansiada REFORMA MIGRATORIA.

Después de darle la bienvenida con una taza de café Maya y un pan Mexicano, dialogamos por unas cuantas horas y empecé a conocerle un poco mas. Es una persona muy agradable, tiene una fe inmensa la cual lo lleva a creer que la situación cambiara. 
El me contó de las experiencias tan fuertes que ha atravesado, iniciando en Guatemala cuando unos policías le quisieron robar porque pensaron que traía dólares. Después en México vio el trato a los indocumentados Centroamericanos. Al llegar a la frontera Estadounidense vio a compañeros tratando de cruzar hacia este país en condiciones de casi muertos. Ya en este país vio el trato bueno y malo de los que entienden su mensaje y tambien el de los xenofobitos que creen que todavía vivimos en el tiempo de Hittler o de los del KKK. Ha dormido debajo de puentes y en parques, pero el dice “todo vale la pena, por hacer llegar el mensaje al gobierno de nuestros países del apoyo que necesitamos y del compromiso del gobierno norteamericano.”

Sabemos que son tiempos de elecciones y los medios de comunicación no cubren este tipo de noticias, el y yo sabemos a lo que nos enfrentamos y lo que los medios amarillistas quieren. El y yo entendemos que el trabajo que hacemos es para que nuestro mensaje llegue a donde tiene que llegar y poco a poco lo estamos consiguiendo. Ambos sabemos que los jóvenes de la nueva Norteamérica están despertando con un espíritu muy lleno de Fe y Dignidad.

A el, como a mi nos ha unido la misma causa y la estamos representado en la forma que creemos correcta. Por tales motivos merece mas que mis respetos. Esperamos que al traer un poco de atención, le den la mano en lo que resta de su recorrido; Tennesse, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utha, Nevada, California, Arizona, Nuevo México, San Antonio para finalizar donde vive en Dallas Tx.

Mario, 8000 miles pedaling for the dignity of the immigrant

On Wednesday September 2 at 8 o’clock in the morning we received a visit from a thin, tired, and bearded youth. The only thing that he brings is a bicycle with a few flags, loaded with a small carrier of clothes and spare bike parts.  What I noticed in his tired face was a big grin of tranquility, peace and a tremendous humility, which these days almost nobody carries.

His name is Mario Castellón, and he has traveled more than 8,000 miles by bicycle since May 31, 2008. His starting point was his home country, El Salvador. His purpose is to help the pro-immigrant fight, bringing the message to the world and the communities through which he passes. Mario wants to bring attention to the importance and significance of more than 12 million undocumented immigrants in the long-awaited IMMIGRATION REFORM.

After welcoming him with a cup of Mayan coffee and Mexican bread, talking for a couple of hours, I started to get to know him a little more. He is a very nice person, with immense faith that leads him to believe the situation will change.

He told me of such strong experiences that he has gone through, starting in Guatemala when some police wanted to rob him thinking he brought dollars. After, in Mexico he saw the treatment of the undocumented Central Americans. At the arrival of the United States border he saw companions trying to cross to this country in half-dead conditions. Already, in this place he saw the good and bad of those that understand his message and also that of the xenophobes that still think we live in the time of Hitler or of the KKK. He has slept underneath bridges and in parks, but he says, “everything is worth it, to bring this message to the government of our countries of the support and commitment that we need of the North American government.”

We know that it is election time and the press does not cover this type of news. He and I know what we face and what the yellow press wants. He and I understand that the work that we do is so that our message reaches where it has to go, and little by little we are getting there. We both know that the young and the new North America is desperate with a spirit very full of Faith and Dignity.

To him, like me, we have united in the same cause and we are representing it in the form we think is correct. For so many reasons he deserves more than my respect. We hope that he will bring a little attention, that they will give him a hand with the rest of his journey; Tennesse, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, San Antonio to the finish where he lives in Dallas, Texas.

No es que no te quiera dar la cara…
No es que te tengo miedo…
No es que me averguenzo de mi origen …

Si no que hoy, mas que nunca me siento orgullosa de ser LATINA…
Hoy me paro mas firme frente a ti …..
Hoy agarro mas coraje para luchar y enfrentar tus leyes rotas…

Hoy me cubro el rostro para ser visible… ya que te he dado la cara y no me vez, te he hablado y no escuchas, te he pedido y no me das… solo me tratas como criminal.

El surgimiento del comite “LATINA” por los primeros 100 dias te encara, te reta y te enfrenta.

Hoy despues de regresar de Shenandoah Pennsylvania, despues de haber vivido de cerca el racizmo de un pueblo confundido, y despues de que hablamos con una mujer blanca que vivio en carne propia la muerte de su esposo, a manos de jovenes blancos llenos de odilo en su corazon, nos paramos firmes.

Hemos tomado como estrategia que nuestro segundo golpe sera tan fuerte como los que seguiran. Hemos convocado a toda la nacion a seguir nuestros pasos y hemos pedido el apoyo a lideres de organizaciones, lideres religiosos, lideres politicos y mas. Nos pararamos firmes frente a las oficinas de inmigracion, encadenarnos y hacer actos de desovediencia civil, todos juntos en protesta contra los programas de imigracion. To do esto inicio el 5 de Agosto y termina precisamente el 22 de Agosto. Las acciones del gobierno tienen como finalidad continuar poniendo miedo a nuestro pueblo inmigrante indocumentado, obligarnos a autodeprtarnos y separarnos de nuestras familias.

Esperamos que tu puedas participar, es importante hacer llegar el mensaje a los candidatos precidenciales y a los que estan observando y los que cuidan cada paso que damos. Por ti, por tu dignidad, por tu familia, por tu futuro en esta pais.

A message to the press; (excerpt from press release)

It is imperative that we send a message to I.C.E., President Bush and the upcoming Democratic Party Convention that there must be AN IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON ALL RAIDS, DEPORTATIONS, INCARCERATIONS AND SEPARATION OF FAMILIES.

“Operation Scheduled Departure” called for nearly half a million people who have had final orders of deportation, who have no criminal records but are classified as fugitives because they have not left the country, to turn themselves in. I.C.E. promised to give them 3 months to “settle their affairs” before they were deported. The agency even offered to provide transportation for their U.S. citizen or legal resident children or spouses to leave with them!

I.C.E. announced that it has OVER 100 TEAMS of agents working full time to seek out and arrest these 500,000 people who, even according to I.C.E., have done nothing wrong except come to this country, accepted employment from U.S. companies, pay taxes and support their families.

THIS MADNESS MUST STOP!

On Friday, August 22nd, we call on all organizations and concerned individuals, but especially LATINAS, to organize protests in front of your local I.C.E. office (at your local time, in Chicago meet at 11am) to demand an immediate moratorium on fugitive searches against these 500,000 individuals who have no criminal records.

Why, Being a “LATINA”, I Cover My Face

It is not because I do not want to show you my face…
It is not because I am afraid of you…
It is not because I am ashamed of my origins…

However, today more than ever I feel proud to be a LATINA woman…
Today I stand more firmly in front of you…
Today I have a surge of courage to oppose your broken laws…

Today I cover my face to be visible… I have already shown you my face and you don’t see me; I have spoken to you and you do not hear me; I have asked you and you do not give me anything…you only treat me like a criminal.

The birth of the “LATINA” committee for the first 100 days faces, challenges and confront you.

Today, after returning from Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, after living so close to the racism of a confused people, and after we speak to a white woman that lived the death of her husband, at the hands of white youth full of hate in their hearts, we stand strong.

We have taken the stance that our second strike will be as strong as those that follow. We have brought the attention of the entire nation to our paths and we have asked organization leaders, religious leaders, political leaders and more for their support when we stand firm in front of the offices of immigration and chain ourselves and perform acts of civil disobedience, all together in protest against the programs of immigration. What started on August 5th will end on August 22nd. The actions of the government have the purpose of continuing to put fear into our immigrant and undocumented people, obligating us to self-deport and separating us from our families.

We hope that you can participate. It is important to act and send the message to the presidential candidates and to those that are observing every step we take. For you, for your dignity, for your family, for your future in this country.

Un mensaje a los medios de comunicación; (segmento del comunicado de prensa)

Es imperativo que mandemos un mensaje a I.C.E., el Presidente Bush y a la convencion del partido Democrata. Debe de aber un MORTARIO INMEDIATO A LAS REDADAS, DEPORTACIÓNES, ENCARCELAMIENTOS Y LA SEPARACIÓN DE FAMILIAS.

“Operation Scheduled Departure”, esta operación pide a casi medio millon de personas con orden final de deportación, cuales no tienen un record criminal pero estan clasificados como fugitivos y no han salido del país que se entreguen a I.C.E.. I.C.E. promete darles tres meses para que terminen sus arreglos antes de ser deportados. La agencia ofrecío prover transportacíon a los hijos, esposas y esposos de ciudadanos o residentets legales para poder viajar con ellos.

I.C.E. anuncio que tiene MAS DE 100 EQUIPOS de agentes trabajando a tiempo completo para buscar el arresto de las 500,000 personas que, por la misma admision de I.C.E. no han hecho nada malo mas que venir a este pais, trabajar para comañias en los Estados Unidos, pagar impuestos (taxes) y apoyar a sus familias.

¡ESTA LOCURA DEBE DE PARAR!

El Viernes 22 de Agosto, estamos llamando a todas las organizaciónes y a las personas, especialmente a LATINAS, a organizar protestas en frente de sus officinas locales de I.C.E. (en Chicago la protesta sera a las 11am) para demandar un moratorio inmediato a las busquedas de estos 500,000 de fugitivos que no tienen antecedentes penales.

La siguiente declaracion fue laida en una conferencia de prensa por Flor desde su santuario en Chicago, el Viernes 15 de Agosto del 2008.

Llamado de Acción Comité “LATINA” para los Primeros 100 Días

El día de hoy desde este Santuario y siendo parte del Comité LATINA por los primeros 100 días. Invito a todas las mujeres que son Esposas, Hermanas, Compañeras, Amigas, Organizadoras de sus comunidades, Organizadoras de las escuelas de sus hijos, Organizadoras en sus lugares de trabajo, Lideres Políticas, Lideres Religiosas. Pero sobre todo; hago el llamado a las Madres, Abuelas, tías o Hermanas que todas somos. A participar en este evento histórico para el movimiento inmigrante en este país.

Nosotras, las que diariamente estamos sufriendo en carne propia la persecución, criminalizacion y separación de nuestras familias. A consecuencia de las leyes migratorias rotas, en el que este sistema inhumano nos ha tenido viviendo por mas de 2 décadas.

El día de hoy el comité LATINA y un grupo de mas de 50 mujeres ha tomado la iniciativa de viajar el día Domingo 17 de Agosto, hacia Shenandoah Pennsylvania, lugar donde fue muerto a golpes el joven Luis Ramírez. Este viaje tiene como finalidad llevar apoyo económico y moral a la familia de Luis y de estar el día lunes frente a la corte criminal donde se presentaran los asesinos para ser enjuiciados.

También el comité LATINA, se reunirá con mas organizaciones de diferentes partes de la nación, que ha decidido seguirlas y hacer el llamado una vez mas a los candidatos presidenciales, a detener esta ola de odio y xenofobia contra la comunidad inmigrante.
El comité LATINA que hoy se forma en toda la nación, que tiene como origen las mujeres de Chicago, ha tomado la responsabilidad de evaluar el compromiso de los candidatos presidenciales y presionar para que en sus primeros cien días de gobierno:

1.- Nos entreguen una Reforma Migratoria justa, ya que es la única solución para detener las redadas, deportaciones, desintegración de nuestras Familias. Y a la misma vez detendrán los ataques de odio y xenofobia contra nuestra comunidad y evitar que sigan asesinando a nuestros jóvenes por odio racial tal y como paso a Luis Ramírez.

2.- También fortaleceremos la demanda sobre la Renegociación de NAFTA. Que ha sido el principal expulsor de Mexicanos y Latinoamericanos hacia este país. Tal tratado comercial ha deteriorado los campos, negocios, industrias y más. Lo cual ha incrementado las expulsiones masivas de trabajadores hacia EE.UU. buscando formas de subsistencia digna para sus familias. Trayendo la desintegración familiar desde nuestros lugares de origen.

El comité LATINA y los mas de 12 millones de inmigrantes que vivimos, trabajamos y contribuimos en esta nación, que no contamos con un estatus migratorio regulado por este gobierno. Estamos demostrado a nuestros gobiernos que estamos tomando el liderato, compromiso y la postura firme, que hasta el momento ellos no han querido tomar.

Por tal motivo el comité de mujeres LATINA de esta nación, ha decidido actuar. Invitamos a todas las mujeres de la ciudad y de toda la nación a que conformemos este frente amplio y fuerte, a que juntas presionemos y el mensaje sea mas poderoso que nunca. Que en esta ocasión no permitiremos que los mas de 10 millones de votos latinos que decidirán el futuro de esta nación. Sea entregado por nuestros delegados a un candidato que no se compromete a trabajar por nuestro pueblo, por nuestras demandas y por nuestras familias.

The following declaration was read by Flor from her sanctuary in Chicago on Friday, August 15, 2008.

A call out to action by the “LATINA” committee for the first 100 Days

Today marks my first 100 days of being part of the LATINA committee. From this sanctuary, I invite all women who are Wives, Sisters, Comrades, Friends, Organizers in their communities, Organizers in their children’s schools, Organizers in their jobs, Political leaders, Religious leaders, but above all, I am making a call out to all the Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, or Sisters that we all are, to participate in this historic event for the immigration movement of this country.

Us, the ones who daily suffer from persecution, criminalization, the rupture of our families, we are the consequence of the broken immigration laws, the one this inhumane system has had us living under for the past two decades.

Today the LATINA committee and a group of more than 50 women have taken the initiative to travel on Sunday August 17th , to Shenandoah Pennsylvania, where Luis Ramirez was beaten to death. The trip’s objective is to offer economical and moral support to the Ramirez family, and to be present at the criminal courts where the murderers will be prosecuted on Monday.

The LATINA committee will meet with other organizations from across the nation, to make another call out to the presidential candidates to detain this wave of hatred and xenophobia against the immigrant community.

The LATINA committee, which has as its origin with women from Chicago, but is formed by the entire nation, has taken the responsibility to evaluate the commitment of the presidential candidates and demand that within their first 100 days of their term as President they:

1. Deliver us a just Immigration Reform, being that this is the only solution to stop the raids, deportations, and separation of our families. They will also detain the attacks of hatred and xenophobia against our community and prevent our youth from being victims of hate crimes such was the case with Luis Ramirez.

2. We also support the renegotiation of NAFTA. That has been the principal reason that Mexicans and Latin Americans immigrate to this country. Such commercial treaties deteriorate the countryside, businesses, industries and more. What has in turn incremented the massive expulsion of workers into the United States who are looking for dignified ways to take care of their families.

We the LATINA committee and the more than 12 million immigrants that live, work, and contribute to this nation, that do not count with a regulated migratory status by this government, are demonstrating to our governments that we are taking leadership, and the commitment that they have not wanted to take.

For these motives the LATINA committee of this nation has decided to act. We invite all women of the city and the entire nation to form a strong front, so that together we can pressure politicians, and so that together our message can be stronger than ever. So that we will not allow that the more than 10 million Latino votes that are going to decide this nation’s future be given by our delegates to a candidate that does not commit to work for our people, our demands, and our families.
